The clubs available to our students complement our mission to provide a comprehensive program built on the foundation of Christian growth. Our clubs are a relaxed, stress free environment for children to spend time learning with friends, develop skills and establish a sense of accomplishment.
In the recent past, Art Club members have exhibited their art in conjunction with other TCA sponsored events such as orchestra and chorus concerts, book fairs and open house events. In addition to these shows, students participated in a world wide collaborative art project called The Dream Rocket. TCA’s contribution of a 4’x4’ fabric “art quilt” depicting Jesus Christ and appliques representative of Christ were created by children ranging in age from 5 to 14. The TCA panel will be stitched along with thousands of others to create a massive “quilt” to drape over the famed Saturn V Rocket at Huntsville’s Space and Rocket Center by the summer of 2012. ~Ms. Suzanne Huff
In the second session, the students learned about the physics behind flight. The students created parachutes, paper airplanes, and discovered what it takes to fly. The third session allowed students to learn about Chemistry. The experiments involved working with acids and bases, mixtures, and chemical reactions. The students actually created the effects of a volcano using mixtures and chemical reactions. The third and last session has specifically focused on our senses - touch, taste, and smell. The students have learned that much of what we taste is actually our sense of smell. The science club has been a wonderful opportunity for the elementary students to learn about God's creation and apply science to their lives. I have enjoyed working with each student this year and look forward to next year as we continue this program. ~Mrs. Shannon Watkins
Nominations are made in the spring of the sophomore year, and faculty council members vote on the nominations. The nominees must provide evidence of their scholarship, character, leadership, and service abilities by filling out an application. Once elected, the member is responsible for continuing to show scholarship, character, leadership, and service. One of the major scheduled events that occurs every year is NHS induction ceremony and also completing a community service project for the school. I am very blessed to be working with each of these students and look forward to next year as the NHS grows and matures. ~Shannon Watkins
The Junior Beta Club is a branch off of the National Beta Club for High School. Every year the Junior Beta Club will participate in at least one (but usually more) service projects in and around our community to help make our community a better place. It really gives our students an opportunity lend a hand to those that are less fortunate, or an area that needs additional assistance. ~Zach Coker The Fellowship of Christian Athletes is a nationwide organization that began in 1956. Dan McClanen started this organization because he believed that athletes could use their platform of influence to present Jesus Christ in a powerful way. FCA has 4 core values that we emphasize: Integrity, Serving, Teamwork, and Excellence. Our goal is to demonstrate a steadfast commitment to Jesus Christ and His Word by being examples of these core values. FCA at TCA meets every Friday morning. Coaches, athletes, and youth pastors come to share, encourage and inspire us. ~Dr. Dona Banks The Student Government Association is for students in grades 9-12. The goal of this organization is to improve all areas of the high school and at the same time help to fulfill the mission statement of TCA: Excellence in Education with a Kingdom Focus. The SGA consists of elected students, representative of each high school grade. The positions include: President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Parliamentarian, and Class Representatives for each grade level. The students meet every Wednesday, from 3:15 until 3:45 p.m., to plan fundraisers such as dodgeball or flag football, high school formal, service projects, community service opportunities, and other activities throughout the school year. Elected students must exhibit characteristics of leadership and service. TCA faculty sponsors help student leaders to make good decisions and work collaboratively to plan activities. ~Zach Coker and Shannon Watkins
